A Car Free Day is an event with the goal of taking cars off the streets of a city or some target

area or neighborhood for all or part of a day, in order to give the people who live and work

there a chance to consider how their city might look and work with fewer cars. On sept. 22 last

year, the 2006 International Car Free Day, a total of 1500 cities in 40 nations imposed a

temporary ban on motor vehicles to help reduce air pollution and save energy. Currently, the

Taiwan government plans to designate the first Saturday of every May as National Car Free

Day, beginning this year.
